By accessing or using Heritage AI, you agree to these terms. If you are using Heritage AI on behalf of an organisation or institution, you confirm you are authorised to accept them on its behalf.

Heritage AI is a cultural technology platform for documenting, organising, exploring, and interacting with cultural and heritage information. Features may include record creation, transcription, cataloguing, search, conversational research, and mapping.

You are responsible for the accuracy of your account information, for keeping your credentials secure, and for activity that takes place under your account.

Use Heritage AI lawfully and respectfully. You agree not to:

• submit material you have no right or authority to share
• misrepresent the origin, authorship, or provenance of cultural material
• upload unlawful, harmful, or deliberately misleading content
• attempt to disrupt, probe, or gain unauthorised access to the service
• use the service to harass, exploit, or endanger others

You are responsible for the material you upload. You confirm that you have the appropriate rights, consent, or authority to submit it — particularly for family material, community knowledge, oral histories, and institutional collections held on behalf of others.

You retain ownership of the material you contribute. Heritage AI does not claim ownership of your family history, oral histories, photographs, recordings, documents, or cultural materials simply because they are uploaded here.

You grant Heritage AI the limited permissions necessary to host, process, organise, display, transcribe, analyse, and otherwise provide the platform services you request. Heritage AI retains ownership of its own software, interfaces, branding, and underlying technology.

Contributions are not automatically public. Where visibility settings such as Private, Family, Community, Public, or Institutional are available, you are responsible for choosing the setting appropriate to the material.

Heritage AI uses artificial intelligence to assist with transcription, summarisation, classification, relationships, translation, and interpretation. These outputs are assistive, not authoritative.

Heritage AI does not guarantee that AI-generated summaries, classifications, relationships, translations, or historical interpretations are correct. Users and institutions remain responsible for review where accuracy matters.

Cultural records are often incomplete, contested, or drawn from sources that disagree. Heritage AI presents and organises information; it does not certify historical truth.

Heritage AI is under active development. Features may change, and the service may be unavailable at times for maintenance or reasons outside our control.

We may suspend or terminate access where these terms are breached, where use poses a risk to the platform or others, or where required by law. You may stop using Heritage AI at any time.

Heritage AI is provided on an "as is" and "as available" basis, without warranties of any kind to the extent permitted by law. To the maximum extent permitted by applicable law, Heritage AI is not liable for indirect, incidental, or consequential loss arising from use of the service.

We may update these terms as the platform develops. Material changes will be reflected in the "Last updated" date at the top of this page.
